Propaganda is present in our everyday livesand these examples below show how they are.
One thing that is very important in this generation right now is our appearance and style. Michael Jordan is one of the most influential people in the world and has built up his "Jordan Brand" to be one of the biggest brands ever. His Jordan shoes are sought after by not only basketball fans but by everyday people. From long lines to crashing the web he is able to spread his brand just from a jumpman logo. If these shoes were sold under a different name there buzz and hype would be much lower. One message that is very prominent throughout advertisement is the dangerous effects of smoking. Television commercials especially stress the importance of keeping away from smoking tobacco and marijuana. In terms of tobacco, people are interviewed who have had major surgeries and lost limbs due to the long lasting effects. In terms of marijuana, commercials show the sluggish activity of minors because of smoking. Advertising against smoking influences people to stay away from tobacco and marijuana. Fast food advertisements persuade people to buy their products. They stress how delicious their meals are while still providing cheap prices. The negative health effects of fast food are well known, but people still opt to eat it because of their effective business strategy. They target people who are looking for a quick meal on-the-go without spending a lot of money. Also, people know that fast food restaurants, such as McDonald's, is located in many locations. Commercials are things that influence all too people the most. Seeing actors an athletes on tv sporting a brand that takes them look nice and perform better influences many people to buy it. For example, Nike having LeBron James as one of there major spokesmen has an impact on many people. Seeing LeBron in his new shoes jumping higher and playing better makes the public want to buy them. Drinking and driving has been a huge topic in the world and the impact that has impacted many people. Seeing commercials about people drinking and driving and how many deaths that occur each year by someone driving under the influence. By watching these commercials it opens my eyes to never drive in the car with someone who has been drinking and for myself to never drink and drive. |
